NXTGen Networks, a broadcast and digital content platform has announced its second original production, a web series titled, “Jola Bello in Real Life.”
The series, which is loosely based on the life of recording artist Jola Bello, tells the story of a struggling singer who moves from Ibadan to Lagos in search of fame and fortune. Following her story, we are rooting for her to succeed as she navigates relationships, work and a death in the family.
The series is developed after the modern short form content primarily targeted at the mobile audience. It stars Jola Bello as herself, alongside, Princess Obuseh, Abayomi Alvin, Delroy Norman, Roseanne Chikwendu and a number of other young and very talented names, who deliver exceptional performances.
“Our work with young actors has really paid off with JBRL,” said JBRL producer and NXTGen founder, Yomi Owope, “it truly went beyond our expectations. We received hundreds of online entries wanting to participate in this production, and were able to select some of the best.”
Owope went on to say plans are already underway for a follow up season, as the Jola Bello brand gains popularity. “It’s the natural thing to do,” he said, “you anticipate the content people are looking for and you deliver it to them. Jola Bello is a good show and the music is great. Plus, it’s about a real person, so the audience connects naturally to her.”
NXTGen’s “Jola Bello in Real Life” is directed by David Musa and set for release on May 1, 2021.
